Interview Spotlight - Ridhima Pandey, Global Climate Activist.
WeAre8 CEO & Founder, Sue Fennessy, had the amazing opportunity to speak with the trailblazing climate activist, Ridhima Pandey.
Ridhima is a Childrenvs.ClimateCrisis petitioner, one of BBC’s 100 Women of 2020 and a Member of the Youth Advisory Council for COP26.
At the age of 9, Ridhima experienced firsthand the devastating impact of climate change as rising temperatures led to a devastating rainstorm in Haridwar that resulted in flooding and casualties. She filed a case against the Indian government to be more proactive and take steps to combat climate change.
But she did not stop there. In 2019 Ridhima joined 15 other children, including Greta Thunberg, petitioning the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child to hold the world’s leading economic powers accountable for inaction on the climate crisis. Childrenvs.ClimateCrisis’s petition addresses the urgent need for climate action as young people are the most vulnerable and will experience the aftermath of inaction now.
Ridhima is an advocate for climate education and awareness, activating young people around the world to take small steps in their own lives to fight for their planet and the lives of future generations, “I want a better future. I want to save my future. I want to save our future. I want to save the future of all the children and all people of future generations.”
