The Good Life 2030 Promotion (Promotion) is organised and operated by Purpose Disruptors Limited (the Organiser). The Organiser’s Terms and Conditions and entry criteria for the Promotion can be found here.
WeAre8 is participating in the Promotion by offering creators the opportunity to submit entries to the Promotion via the WeAre8 app, which WeAre8 will submit to the Organiser.
These Terms and Conditions relate to entry to the Promotion via the WeAre8 app. The submissions criteria and information on how to enter the Promotion found on the WeAre8 landing page and in these Terms and Conditions apply in place of the Organiser’s instructions for entry.
Participation in this promotion through the WeAre 8 app is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and the Terms and Conditions of the Organiser here.
Entry is open to users of the Weare8 app in Australia and the UK only aged 18 years or over.
Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter or the Organiser and any other agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.
Promotion commences from 09:00AM on 22nd March 2023 and closes at 1:00PM on 5th April 2023 (“Promotional Period”). All times throughout the Terms and Conditions will be based on UK time (BST).
To be eligible to enter, individuals must undertake the following steps during the Promotional Period:
Sign up to the WeAre8 Platform as a Creator (if not done so already). To do this, individuals must download the WeAre8 Application available for free from The App Store or Google Play and follow the prompts to create an account and a profile. Once a profile is created, individuals will then need to, ‘Request creator verification’ in app by clicking the settings toggle on your profile and following the prompts to request Creator verification
Create an original advert, poster, video, photo or illustration and an accompanying written submission answering the brief set out in the Submissions Criteria here.
Upload the work to their WeAre8 profile and specifically their 8Stage feed when posting, using the hashtag #GoodLife2030. The submission can be a piece of work that was created prior to the Promotion Period or during the Promotion Period.
Any uploaded files must be submitted in accordance with the relevant platform’s requirements. Entrants whose work is selected to be exhibited will be required to re-submit their work electronically in RAW, JPEG or TIFF format at minimum 300dpi (if image) or MOV or MP4 at minimum 720p (if film).
WeAre8 reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who WeAre8 has reason to believe has breached any of Terms and Conditions, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the promotion. Errors and omissions will be accepted at WeAre8's discretion. Failure by WeAre8 to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. WeAre8's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
Incomplete, indecipherable, or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
Multiple entries permitted per person, however each entry must be substantially unique and submitted separately and in accordance with entry requirements.
If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, WeAre8 reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
Following the submission closing date, WeAre8 will submit all valid entries received to the Organiser for judging.
Entries will be judged by a panel of independent judges selected by the Organiser.
Judging will take place on 12th April 2023. A minimum of twenty five of the best entries received via all contributing universities and partner networks, and as selected by the competition judges, will be featured in an exhibition at The South Room at the Tate Modern (London) on Tuesday 25th April 2023. A minimum of five entries will be selected specifically from all the entries submitted through the WeAre8 app to be featured in the WeAre8 area of the exhibition. Entrants whose work is selected to be featured in the exhibition will be notified by the Organiser by mid-April 2023.
The judges will also select from all entries (not just those submitted through the WeAre8 app), first, second and third place prize winners, which will receive prizes of £750 (1st), £500 (2nd) and £250 (3rd) respectively. Cash prize winners will be notified by the Organiser on or before 17:00 on 21st April 2023. Prize amounts for winners within Australia will be calculated based on the exchange rate on the date of payment (e.g. GBP to Australian Dollar)
Decisions made by Promoter, the Organiser and the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
If your work is selected, you will be invited to attend a special afternoon masterclass for ‘changemakers’ and unveiling of the exhibition at the Tate Modern 3pm - 5pm on Tuesday 25th April. We regret to inform you that due to limited capacity we cannot accommodate guests. Attendance at the masterclass and exhibition is subject to the event venue and ticket terms and conditions, including any applicable age restriction and film classification. WeAre8 and the Organiser hereby expressly reserve the right to eject the/any winner for any inappropriate behaviour, including but not limited to intoxication, whilst participating in any element of the masterclass or exhibition. The winner will be responsible for their own transport to and from the event venue and any costs associated.
Although the prize money is provided by WeAre8, judging and payment of the prizes to the winners, and hosting and operation of the masterclass and exhibition is the responsibility of the Organiser.
Entrants agree that they are fully responsible for any materials they submit via the promotion including but not limited to comments, recordings and images (“Content”). WeAre8 shall not be liable in any way for such Content to the full extent permitted by law. WeAre8 may remove or decline to publish any Content without notice for any reason whatsoever. Entrants warrant and agree that:
They will not submit any Content that is unlawful or fraudulent, or that WeAre8 may deem in breach of any intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights, defamatory, obscene, derogatory, pornographic, sexually inappropriate, violent, abusive, harassing, threatening, objectionable with respect to race, religion, origin or gender, not suitable for children aged under 15, or otherwise unsuitable for publication;
Their Content shall not contain viruses or cause injury or harm to any person or entity;
They will obtain prior consent from any person or from the owner(s) of any property that appears in their Content;
The Content is the original work of the entrant or they will obtain full prior consent from any person who has jointly created or has any rights in the Content to the uses contemplated by these Terms and Conditions, and the Content does not infringe the rights of any third party;
They consent to any use of the Content which may otherwise infringe the Content creator’s/creators’ moral rights pursuant to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and warrant that they have the full authority to grant these rights; and
They will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including without limitation, those governing copyright, content, defamation, privacy, publicity and the access or use of others' computer or communication systems.
Without limiting any other terms herein, the entrant agrees to indemnify WeAre8 and the Organiser for any loss or claim arising from a breach of the above terms.
Entrants retain ownership and copyright of Content, but as a condition of entering this promotion, each entrant licences and grants WeAre8, the Organiser and their respective affiliates and sub-licensees a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, and sub-licensable right to store the Content in electronic form, display the Content on Weare8’s and/or the Organiser’s website, other media platforms and the live exhibition, for the purposes of showcasing the Good Life 2030 campaign. Any such usage shall be subject to the Organiser or Weare8 as appropriate crediting the entrant by name as creator, and including the entrant’s social media handle if the entrant wishes this to be included.
Entrants consent to WeAre8 using the entrant's name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by WeAre8.
If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of WeAre8, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, WeAre8 reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
Any cost associated with accessing the competition website is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limit, exclude or modify or purports to limit, exclude or modify any statutory rights or guarantees that cannot otherwise by law be excluded. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, WeAre8 (including their respective officers, employees and agents) exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.
Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, WeAre8 (including their respective officers, employees and agents) are not responsible for and exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under WeAre8’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by WeAre8) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of WeAre8; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (g) use of a/the prize.
WeAre8 collects personal information in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such personal information to third parties, including but not limited to the Organiser, agents, contractors, service providers and prize suppliers. Entry is conditional on providing this personal information. WeAre8 will also use and handle personal information as set out in its Privacy Policy, which can be viewed at https://www.weare8.com/privacy-policy . In addition to any use that may be outlined in WeAre8’s Privacy Policy, WeAre8 may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the personal information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant. The Privacy Policy also contains information about how entrants may opt out, access, update or correct their personal information, how entrants may complain about a breach of the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR or any other applicable law and how those complaints will be dealt with. Entry and continued participation in the promotion is dependent on entrants following and acting in accordance with the WeAre8 Terms of Use which can be found at https://www.weare8.com/terms-of-use.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede all prior agreements, understandings or arrangements (whether oral or written) relating to the Promotion.
