Pat Cummins and Adam Goodes on ‘Get Real with Rio’, hosted by Rio Ferdinand

Sports stars Pat Cummins and Adam Goodes discuss leadership, mental health, social impact, family and more in new WeAre8 interview series ‘Get Real with Rio’, hosted by Rio Ferdinand

WeAre8, the social media platform for good, is excited to announce the upcoming release of two new episodes of its popular YouTube interview series ‘Get Real with Rio’, hosted by former Manchester United player and England Football Captain, Rio Ferdinand. The new episodes feature two prominent Australians who are backing the social app as WeAre8 Changemakers, Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins and AFL legend and Co-Founder of the GO Foundation, Adam Goodes.

In the upcoming episode set to drop this Wednesday May 10, Rio Ferdinand sits down with Pat Cummins to discuss his rise to the top of the cricket world and experiences leading the Australian cricket team, his role in advocating for mental health awareness in sports, his work off the pitch to reduce  cricket’s carbon footprint through his organisation Cricket for Climate, why family is so important to him and navigating grief. In this very personal conversation, Pat also shares his insights on leadership, team dynamics, managing burn out and other challenges of playing at the highest level.

In the second episode, scheduled for release on May 31, Rio Ferdinand sits down with Adam Goodes, a two-time AFL premiership player, former Australian of the Year, and Co-Founder of the GO Foundation. Adam discusses his work with the GO Foundation which provides education opportunities for Indigenous youth, how soccer was actually his first love and how he’s returned to it following his AFL retirement, how he navigated moving from sport to business, how his mum, wife and family have helped shape his life, and his thoughts on the importance of culture and identity, leadership and social impact. As one of the most prominent voices in Australian sports and an advocate for social justice, including his experiences dealing with racism, Adam's interview is both enlightening and inspiring.

Steered by one of the most successful footballers of all time and a passionate advocate for social change, Rio Ferdinand also brings a unique perspective to these conversations with Pat Cummins and Adam Goodes. The interviews are candid and thought-provoking and offer an intimate and, for many, previously unseen look into the lives and careers of two of Australia's most successful sports stars.
‘Get Real with Rio’ is part of WeAre8's commitment to providing engaging, inspiring and informative content that connects people with their passions and community and rewards them for their time and attention. The interview series has already garnered a loyal following among sports enthusiasts and fans of Rio Ferdinand alike.

To watch the new episodes of ‘Get Real with Rio’ with Pat Cummins and Adam Goodes, tune in to WeAre8's YouTube channel on May 10 and May 24, respectively.
