Why are WeAre8 crowdfunding?
We built WeAre8 to bring economic power to the people, with the goal of redirecting billions of ad dollars away from Facebook and back to people and the planet. As ‘The People’s Platform’, we not only enable people to be paid and rewarded every time they watch an ad, but we want to give people the opportunity to own part of the company too.
WeAre8 has allocated part of their Series B funding round to ‘8Citizens’, to give you the opportunity to own shares in WeAre8 and invest alongside Sue Fennessy, Rio Ferdinand, Channel 4, UKTV (a BBC Studios Company), Centerstone Capital and other business leaders. Help us fund a better future.
What is equity crowdfunding?
Equity crowdfunding is the process whereby people (i.e. the ‘crowd’) invest in an early-stage unlisted company (a company that is not listed on a stock market), such as WeAre8, in exchange for shares in that company. A shareholder then has partial ownership and stands to profit on an Exit Event (i.e. IPO, merger or sale) should the company continue to perform well and increase in value. The opposite can also be true, so if the company fails, investors can lose some, or all, of their investment.
What is Crowdcube?
Crowdcube is a crowdfunding platform that enables start-ups and scale-ups to issue shares to and raise money from a wide range of everyday and experienced investors who want to share in the future of companies they believe in.
Does pre-registering commit me to investing?
Not at all. Pre-registering means you’ll have the exclusive opportunity to invest first when we open privately, as once we’ve reached our maximum target we’ll close the crowdfunding round.
If you have already registered interest, make sure you’re signed up to Crowdcube before we go live!
When will the campaign go live?
We’ll be going live with our crowdfunding campaign soon. Once you’ve pre-registered your interest, keep an eye on your inbox for the latest launch date information.
Who can invest?
Broadly, anyone over the age of 18, from anywhere in the world. However, due to local laws and regulations, retail investors located in Japan and Russia are unable to invest in this crowdfunding, we are sorry to say. Investors from North America and Canada must be SEC accredited investors and there is a minimum investment size of £20,000. Please contact us if you meet these criteria and would like more details.
Will there be early access for customers?
Yes, those that pre-register will have first access to invest in WeAre8 followed closely by those who haven’t pre-registered
How much can I invest?
You can invest any amount from £10 up to £100,000 and beyond.
Who else has invested in WeAre8?
We have investors from a range of backgrounds, from Channel 4, UKTV (a BBC Studios Company) and Centerstone Capital to global business leaders and celebrities.
What benefits do I get as a shareholder?
Investing in WeAre8 is a long term capital investment that will support us in growing the company. A return on investment is typically made via a liquidity event such as an IPO, or if WeAre8 is acquired by another company. You can learn more about investor returns on Crowdcube here.
What happens after I invest?
Once the pitch reaches its target and closes to further funding, the completion process starts. At that point, all investors will receive a copy of the Articles of Association via email and will be informed of the cooling off period. Once the cooling off period, which is generally no less than seven days, has expired, the payment collections process starts and then electronic share certificates are issued.
